Active Together is thankful for the funding support we have received for our mother and daughter programming through grants from the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association. Our Fall 2021 and Winter 2022 Swim Together Women and Girls programs are possible with support from our second CPRA grant. In January 2022 we will be starting our first Fit Together program that is also supported by a CPRA grant.

Swim Together Partnerships
Our first program, Swim Together, began in the fall of 2020 as a research-based partnership with the University of Waterloo, Woolwich Wave Swim Team, and Township of Woolwich. Mothers and girls were coached in a swim club environment to improve fitness and technique while simultaneously accruing the benefits of social connection, self-confidence, and positive role modelling within families. Participants took part in a research study that has helped us develop the “co-participation” model we are applying to new programs for parents and their children. We are thankful for the funding support we received for our mother and daughter programming through grants from the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association and the Sport Information Resource Centre.
