Sydney was an avid swimmer from a young age. She began her competitive swim journey with the Newmarket Stingrays Swim Club at the age of 11. After attending multiple provincial and national championship swim meets over the course of 7 years she decided to continue her swimming career as she went off to university. Sydney competed as a Waterloo Warrior on the varsity swim team throughout her undergraduate degree. She also acted as team manager and as an assistant coach during her time at the university. 

Sydney is currently completing her masters in recreation and leisure studies at the University of Waterloo. She also has a undergraduate degree in recreation and sports business, with a minor in event management from the University of Waterloo (‘21). 

Beyond the world of swimming she has also worked in a few different positions within the tech industry. Currently she is working as a full-time customer success manager at a software company based in Toronto, though she was previously head of sales and business development at a Kitchener-based robotics company. She also volunteers for a non-profit organization called CanCommit that aims to help student athletes further their athletic careers at Canadian universities.
